'Church & Raves' is a great title for an EP given the strange relationship between the two. You're unlikely to get many people in the UK who go to both, but at the same time the communion of a good dance is often likened to the joys of collective experience that people feel in their chosen place of worship. Jazz pianist, organist, composer and bandleader Jonny Liebeck brings together a background in both here: 'Dancefloor Motive' and 'In My Feels' run jungle's rhythmic urgency through a jazz sensibility and breakbeats are given real harmonic depth rather than just serving as a backbone. 'Underground Soul' and 'Modal House' lean closer to classic house but with those Latin jazz touches from his debut still lingering in the margins. A thoughtful, well-crafted EP for anyone who wants their music with real substance.

Jonny Liebeck Group features Jonny Liebeck (keyboards/synths), Tom Mason (electric bass), Andrew McLean (drums), and Santiago Morales (congas).

The A‑side is a breezy jazz‑funk tune full of Rhodes textures and a groovy rhythm, while the B‑side is a reinterpretation of Piero Piccioni's "Isole del Tramonto" from the film "In Viaggio con Papà".
